Farewell Day Volunteers

Use the following information to learn more about the details of your volunteer position.

Job Descriptions

Farewell Day

Volunteers who work for farewell day are in for a treat as they create a lively sendoff for athletes and their delegations.  Expect to see the athletes upbeat, wearing their medals, showing off their pin collections and excited to be headed home from their great adventure.

You will be greeting athletes as they step off their buses in the North Lot of the airport. You’ll help them remove their luggage from underneath the bus and then assist them in their needs either finding their gates or simply checking luggage in place.

You should expect to be able to walk and be on your feet for at least 4 hours, lift and move luggage and have great enthusiasm.

Where should we park?

There will be a limited number of free parking spots designated for airport volunteers.  You may also choose to ride the Link Light Rail to your shift and can park for free at any of the park and ride locations along the route including International Blvd station and Angle Lake Station which are both only one stop away.

Where should I come to check in for my shift?

Check in at the Central Auditorium om the mezzanine level of the airport.  Look for volunteer check-in signs once you’re upstairs on the third floor, one floor above departures.

Will there be food and water provided?

Yes, there will be a volunteer check-in and lounge area in the “Central Auditorium” on the mezzanine level of the airport. There will be plenty of water and some snacks.  Please feel free to bring your own snacks, especially if you have dietary restrictions or needs.

Can I bring my children?

Children who can help you at the airport are welcome but should be registered volunteers and at least 10 years of age.  The airport will be extremely busy as it is a Saturday during cruise season. In order to be easily identified we are expecting all volunteers, including children, to be in uniform and wearing your credentials.
