WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE AN AMBASSADOR? It’s an absolute honor to be asked and there’s no way I would turn an opportunity like this down. What the Shriver family set out to do in the 1960s has grown into something that’s absolutely wonderful to be a part of and it was an easy decision for me to make the time to be involved.
ADVICE FOR THE COMPETITORS: To peak at the time when you’re competing is the result of a lot of hard work paying off. Being at the Games in Seattle is the fun part after all that effort. You’ve worked so hard to get to that point so take it in and enjoy every moment.
HOW WILL SEATTLE REACT TO THE GAMES? Seattle has hosted Final Fours and All Star Games and I think the excitement level for the Games will be very high. It’s an honor to be the host city for something like this and we know it will do good things for the city economically. There’s no greater example, inspiration, and motivation for all of us then getting to watch these athletes who are living their lives to the very fullest potential. To be around those athletes and their families will be an honor and I’m looking forward to that.
WHAT SHOULD ATHLETES DO ON THEIR DAY OFF? You’ve gotta go to the Pike Place Market because that’s the best experience ever. The downtown Seattle area offers lots of historical and fun places to visit. And if you get out of the city, you can really experience the beauty of the Northwest at places like Snoqualmie Falls.
