RESUME: Now in her 21st season as head coach of the Seattle University women’s soccer team.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE AN AMBASSADOR? My team and our program have been involved with Special Olympics for many years. It’s part of the mission of Seattle University to be involved in the community and giving back.

HOW WILL SEATTLE REACT TO THE USA GAMES? I’m thrilled and excited about the prospect of all these athletes coming to Seattle. Not only is Seattle a sensational sports community but it’s a great community in general. We’ve hosted a few Special Olympics events at Seattle University and the reception has always been great. It’s inspiring to see so many people willing and wanting to give up their time to help.

WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT WHEN THEY ATTEND THE SOCCER MATCHES AT CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD ON THE SEATTLE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS? I think it’s a great place to have the soccer matches. Seattle University is one of the little hidden gems in the middle of the city. It’s not until you’re on campus that you begin to fully appreciate how great SU’s campus is.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THE COMPETITORS? The principles we stand by in our program: character, commitment, consistency, community. Those are all things I think are very important. You have to be committed to improving in your training. You have to always give your best. I’m looking forward to seeing these athletes.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO ON A DAY OFF IN SEATTLE? It’s hard to beat a great day in Seattle. I highly recommend getting to the waterfront. Take a ferry ride. Visit the market.
