RESUME: Market Unit GM Pacific NW, Swire Coca Cola

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE ON THE BOARD? First, the Coca Cola company has a lifelong legacy with Special Olympics as one of the founding partners, and that relationship is truly cherished. It’s my honor to represent the company on the board. Second, I’m involved with Special Olympics Washington and I’m truly inspired by the athletes and the organization and what they do. Third, we talk about Seattle being a City of Inclusion and I want to help us continue to progress in this endeavor to accepting of all people.

WHAT SPORTS HAVE YOU PLAYED? In school I played baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis. In the end I specialized in soccer.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM SPORTS THAT YOU’VE APPLIED TO YOUR CAREER? Two things: You have to put in the hard work and dedication if you want success, and teamwork is how things get done. I love working within the organization of a team to make things great.

WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR SEATTLE TO HOST THE GAMES? I think it will be extremely positive. People in Seattle have a big heart and they’re going to be open, welcoming, and accepting of the athletes, their families, and coaches. This is such a unique opportunity for the city and I think it will be very significant for Special Olympics Washington into the future. I think people will enjoy the caliber of the athletes involved and the camaraderie they share.

WHAT SHOULD ATHLETES SEE WHILE THEY’RE IN SEATTLE? One of my favorite things to do in the city is the Argosy boat tour from Lake Washington, through the locks, and into Puget Sound where you get to see the Seattle skyline. And there’s nothing wrong with staying hydrated by enjoying an ice cold Coke while you’re doing that.
