John Borgognoni
John brings a wealth of Special Olympics knowledge to the USA Games. He has had a long history with Special Olympics. He first started as a volunteer in New York at a local track meet in 1992. For the next four years, John continued to volunteer at local events in Central New York.
John was employed by Special Olympics Washington for 19 years. In February of 1997, he was hired as the first Special Olympics Washington Northwest Region Sports and Training Manager. After a two year stint in the Northwest Region, he moved on to the state level. First, working as the Director of Sports and Training and later as the Director, Sports and Competition. In 2001, John became the organization's Vice President, Sports and Programs, and position he held until his transition to the 2018 USA Games.
John also represented Special Olympics Washington as the Head of Delegation at the 2006 USA Games in Ames, Iowa, the 2010 USA Games in Lincoln, Nebraska and the 2014 USA Games in Princeton, New Jersey.
John resides in Mount Vernon, WA with his wife Brenna, daughter Kendra, and son Trenton.
