RESUME: Former World Record holder in the 200 meter individual medley. Member, 2012 US Olympic Team. Host of the USA Swimming internet TV show “Deck Pass Live”.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE AN AMBASSADOR? Seattle is my hometown and it’s a place that means a lot to me so the fact that the games are there made this an easy decision. At the end of the day, we’re all athletes and we’re all striving to find that greatness inside of us. Sometimes people have limits put on them and their response is, “I can do better. Let me show you.” I’m drawn to that idea and I can’t wait for this competition.

ADVICE FOR COMPETITORS: It’s no different than the way they’ve practiced and competed in the past. Sometimes, as athletes, we like to paint a big picture where things can appear to be different. But the black line on the bottom of the pool is the exact same in every pool no matter where you are. You’ve done this a million times before and all you have to do is your very best and at the end of the day that’s enough. Soak in all the hoopla of the USA Games but when it comes time to compete remember: you’ve done this before.

HOW WILL SEATTLE REACT TO THE GAMES? Seattle is a great sports town and fans really rally behind all their teams. I think the community will step up and be excited about it. My hope is we can fill the stadiums and support these great athletes.

WHAT TO DO ON A DAY OFF IN SEATTLE? Take a ferry ride to Vashon Island. That’s one of my favorite things to do. Seattle people never let a good day pass by without going outside. Go get lost in a forest somewhere. I love to hike out by Mt. Si with my mom whenever I’m in Seattle. And for dinner get your hands on some salmon!
